Vertigo, Tinnitus and Hearing Loss Part 2

Vertigo, Dizzy, Dizziness, SpinningMeniere’s Disease

Now that we know more about Meniere’s Disease and its symptoms (Vertigo, Tinnitus, and hearing loss) from our previous blog, it’s important to look at how a person can find permanent relief from their suffering.

To do that, we’ll look at a study on the effect of upper cervical specific chiropractic by Dr. Michael Burcon, who examined 139 people suffering from Meniere’s Disease. All 139 of those people had suffered from Cervical damage due to injuries to their upper neck, and 136 of those 139 patients responded well to upper cervical chiropractic adjustments. After two years, those 136 patients said the pain went from being an 8.5 to a 1.4.

Out of those 136 patients, 135 of them noticed drastic improvements in their lives, including their ability to drive, work, enjoy their relationships, and more. Even those who continued to deal with dizziness did not experience Vertigo, and those who suffered from nausea did not vomit. And if they did suffer from one type of attack or another, they were never as long, not as intense, and the recovery time was faster.

Hoping Past Vertigo, Tinnitus and Hearing Loss

The good news is that there is hope for those suffering from Vertigo, Tinnitus, and hearing loss. This was the case for Jack, who first went to Dr. Burcon on June 11, 2001. Jack was diagnosed by an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and was then referred to the Michigan Ear Institute, where it was recommended that he have surgery. He opted out of the surgery, but he was granted disability by Michigan.

When asked about his medical history, Jack reported that he was in a car accident in 1980 at 45 MPH. His symptoms, which included Vertigo, nausea, and vomiting, did not begin for another 14 years; and he also suffers from a feeling of fullness in the ears, Tinnitus, headaches, neck pain, and one leg was shorter than the other.

After six weeks of upper cervical care, his Vertigo was down from a 10 to a two, his nausea/vomiting was reduced from a 10 to a zero, and his feeling of fullness or pressure in his ears was reduced from a 10 to a one. He also went for a period of one year without experiencing any Vertigo.

Hope for You

If upper cervical chiropractic can improve the life of Jack, it can improve the life of anyone who suffers from Meniere’s Disease. No one is sure of the exact cause of this disease, but current research reveals that it’s probably due to a misalignment in the upper neck. That misalignment irritates the nerves, thus causing an incorrect flow of certain fluids to the inner ear. The inner ear will then respond negatively to that improper flow, and that response is what we call Meniere’s Disease.

Of course, the good news is that an upper cervical chiropractor can examine your upper neck vertebrae for any misalignments that may be the underlying cause of your inner ear problems. They will then make any adjustments necessary in order to restore the proper flow of the fluid to the inner ear, so as to reduce those symptoms.
